A Workshop on Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Audit was organized in which Prof. (Dr.) A.K. Mitra shared his thoughts on Corporate Social Responsibility and its reflection in Indian scenario. During the discussion, Dr. Mitra highlighted the benefits that businesses, trade associations and Governments can achieve by adopting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) into their philosophy and operations.
The main objectives of workshop were to Describe CSR and increase awareness of how it may help businesses and governments, Show the benefits of CSR, using examples, Explore the extent to which CSR is already in use in the forest sector in Indian subcontinent and Identify barriers to its wider adoption and what support may be needed to overcome these barriers.
The entire enlightening event was followed by an interactive session in which students raised concern on different issues like how far the social audit carries relevancy in today’s scenario; in what manner and in which direction this concept can be reflected in Indian law and so on.
